38th Salt Lake City, Utah Newsletter

On August 6, 2007, there were 47 golfers that attended the 38th Annual Far West Golfers for the Deaf Tournament in Salt Lake City, Utah. The scenery over there is a stunning view of the city and mountain. Thank to Mahlon Deu for chairperson of the tournament.

The general meeting went well with some interesting changes. The bylaws were update and changing the better understands. It was little long due to the update of bylaw. The election was same. Ed Bazan was elected by ALC as secretary/treasurer so he will run the officer for other 2 years to go. Jim Revell was elected by ALC as statistician so he will run the officer for other 2 years to go.

On Tuesday, August 7, 2007, on the first round, the golfers start at 8 a.m. with shot gun with two golf courses. The golf courses were Stonebridge and Sagebrush. The weather was very windy and hot (95°) with partly cloud. Everyone get tired from heating. The leader of the first round were Jose Sermeno and Cory Fletcher shot 76.

On Wednesday, August 8, 2007, we were still played until afternoon. The golf course was West Ridge. The weather is windy but hot (95°). The view was beautiful. Everyone seemed to enjoy with the golf. After the golf, everyone gets worn out so went to the hotel and get rest. The leader of the second round was Louis Pedroza shot 73.

On Thursday, August 9, 2007, AGDA had given the special event for the golfers at Stonebridge course. It was called scramble game. Understand that they were given the money for 1-3 places. Everyone had been enjoyed. The weather was hot and windy. Everyone get sunburn and get tired but excited to be last day for playing.

The banquet was given by the Stonebridge Golf Club. Everyone had good times. The exciting person George Wilding gives the master of ceremony to give the best speech and make everyone laughing and enjoy it. Awards were given to the golfers with their shiny smiles. Thank to Mahlon Deu, chairperson of the tournament, was excellent job. The committee did a super fantastic job.

FWGAD Champion: Louis Pedroza, California

First Flight Champion: Melissa Stockton, Utah

Second Flight Champion: James Heck, Idaho

Senior Flight Champion: Arthur Gendreau, Minnesota

Lowest putts of two rounds: Louis Pedroza, California

Highest putts of two rounds: Jack Frost, Nevada

Now back to reality, the 39th FWGAD chairperson, wonderful men, Wayne Miller and Jerry Nichols and his great committee gang, is ready to have an exciting tournament at Corona, California at Eagle Glen Golf Courses. Will give more detail for information at the website. Please do come and support Wayne Miller to have a successful tournament. I am looking forward to see there and so are you!
